In a recent interview given to latin journalists when he was staying at Hotel Tides in Miami, Robert Smith has declared he is leaving the band after the Blood Flowers tour, but he insists The Cure will not be over without him. He said there is nothing else to do or create for the band and it is time to start something new.

"When I was 20 I said to myself that one I reach 40 I would leave whatever I would be doing to do something new. I have just come to 40 this year and it is definitively time for a change."

However, he said he is not going to give up using make ups. He is just going to maike it lighter.

As himself said in his song "39" from Blood Flowers: " the fire is finishing and there is not else to burn".
