Rockabilly

Mix of Rythm & Blues, Country and Western, this genre had as beginers names like Carl Perkns and Bill Haley and the Comets. In 1955, Bill Haley recorded the single (We're gonna) Rock Around the Clock, which sold more than 22 million copies in the USA and introduced the boys of those years to the allucinant rythm of original Rock and Roll. It was the birthday of Rock and Roll. Rockabilly is a tender nickname which even today is given to the idolls of the good and old Rock and Roll. It is like to say "Route Rock". Other names from this period msut be remembered such as Ricky Nelson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, The Everly Brothers, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly and Gene Vincent. Tehre are some Rockabilly bands use to mix elements of other genres like Punk - creating the so-called Psychobilly, which is very well represented by The Cramps.
