Surf Music
In
the begining, between the end of the 50's and during the entire 60's,
the first representative bands of Surf Music did basically the same sound
of original Rock and Roll, but its lyrics talked about Surf, surf city
competitions, beatifull women, surfer's girlfriends, love disillusions
and everything related to Surf World. In this period, bands like The Beach
Boys and The Trashmen represented very well the crazy style which influenced
many Rock Stars, among them the vocal leader of The Ramones - Joey Ramone.
Since the 80's till today, bands like Midnight Oil, Hoodo Gurus, Men at
Work and other Australian bands started to do the heads of the surfers
and surf music lovers. These bands have a social engagement presented
at its lyrics, with critics to polluting companies which are bringing
damage to nature. We can surely say these bandas make part of the ecological
phase of Surf Music.
